Rare pair of Fischel bentwood armchair in stained birch with newly upholstered seat and back in a white wool fabric. They are very much in the style of both Josef Hoffmann (who worked for both Thonet and Kohn) and Marcel Kammerer (who worked for Thonet). Fischel was a competitor to both the Thonet and Kohn brands and was alongside those two gigants one of the most important bentwood factories in central Europe from the late 19th century. David Fischel started his business in former Czechoslovakia in the 1870s when many of the original Thonet patents expired. Therefor one finds many of the famous Thonet models also being produced by Fischel. These pair is most likely from the 1910s and it's very rare to find Fischel chairs with this form and shape from this era. Marked with original sticker underneath the seat.
