Antique 19th century pine board game on six legs consisting of a checkered painted painted plate and a small box/drawer underneath that can be pulled out. In the box are ca 15 , slightly late, pine checkers that can be used to play for example "Noughts an crosses". The board is marked SPS 1831 with a red pen and the box are marked SPS 1841 by carving on the front. Which dates the piece at 1830s-1840s. SPS is most likely the mark of the original owner and would be shortening of the owners name, for example Sven Persson. This was a very common way to mark your belongings in the 18th and 19th century. The whole construction is made at a later time, approximately early 20th century, when someone put the legs on the plate and made a sliding mechanism for the little box. A very honest and charming piece of rural and rustic life in Sweden during the 19th century. Overall good condition with ware consistent with age and use.
