Very rare set of four Café Daum chairs (model no 4) designed by Michael Thonet. This was his first ever independent commission for the Café Daum in Vienna back in 1849 and are one of the earliest models in the entire massive Thonet catalog. Very rare with a set of four chairs since they are almost always sold separately when they come on the market. This set originally had rattan seats but have been newly upholstered with blonde vintage patinated leather to match the patina of the wood. This set was made in the second half of the 19th century. All the chairs are very sturdy and the overall condition is very good with normal ware and patina consistent with age and use.
