Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's very legendary chair, model MR10 (today renamed S 533), designed in 1927, a few years before he was nominated as the director of the world famous Bauhaus school. The original producer was a German company called Berliner Metallgewerbe Josef Müller but was just a few years later, in the early 1930s, picked up by Thonet to be featured in their catalog. The MR10 is one of the first tubular steel chair models that ever saw the light of day. Mies, alongside Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer (both of whom also were at the Bauhaus school), were the pinoneers of tubular steel furniture. This example is dated to the 1970s and has a very nice and honest patina that can only come from every day use. Original leather seat and back mounted on a tubular steel frame. Good vintage condition with quite heavy and nice patina from every day use over a long period of time.
